Sora’s Quest: The book that inspired this blog

Sora's Quest, T.L. Shreffler

“Sora Fallcrest always dreamed of adventure, but as a member of the nobility, she learned the ways of a Lady instead. Now seventeen, she is expected to choose a husband and marry. She plots to run away, but just as she is stepping out the door, she runs into a mysterious man and is kidnapped. Abducted from her manor, Sora is plunged into a world of magical races, arcane jewelry and forgotten lore. She finds herself at the mercy of a dangerous assassin, haunted by an even darker past. She yearns for freedom, but he won’t let her go–not when her Cat’s Eye necklace is the only thing that can save his life. But the necklace itself presents a problem. It is an ancient device from the long forgotten War of the Races, and its magic has the ability to steal souls. Can Sora learn to wield its power — or will the power wield her?”- Excerpt taken from

Hello Lovelies!

I can honestly say that I am SO EXCITED to share this gem with you! Sora’s Quest happens to be the book that inspired this blog. Within The Cat’s Eye Chronicles, T.L. Shreffler, much like Tolkien and Paolini, creates an entire world full of various landmasses with their own climates, multiple races each possessing unique traits, new religions and deities, and my personal favorite, an magic. While other reviews might disagree, I find Sora to be an enchanting protagonist throughout the entire novel. Like all humans, Sora has her weaknesses, but the reader cannot help but admire the confidence she emits as she embarks upon her trek and the physical and mental strength that she acquires throughout her journey. Her narrating is detailed, exciting, and quite witty! Bands of misfits always manage to steal my heart, and the group of criminals with whom Sora falls in with are especially endearing. I loved seeing the transformation from captive to comrade that Sora experiences while fleeing Volcrian with her companions Crash, Dorian, and Burn. This novel progresses at a swift pace and always has some sort of action taking place, but is also filled with great amounts of emotion too. This story is captivating and overall a very thrilling and enjoyable adventure!

I would absolutely recommend any of The Cat’s Eye Chronicles books as I have read them all and am eagerly awaiting the next two novels in the series! Get Sora’s Quest for free here!
