Liebster Award!

Hello Lovelies!

Last week I was nominated by Primrose (beautiful name, right?) as part of the Liebster Award, a sort of get-to-know-you exercise consisting of eleven fun and creative questions created by each nominator. So here are my answers to Primrose’s questions:

1. If you could visit any fictional place, where would it be?

I have quite a vivid imagination, so narrowing my other-worldly visitation to one fictional location was challenging. The inner-nerd in all of us wants to scream out “Hogwarts,” however, I finally decided on Christopher Paolini’s Alagaësia. Dragons, elves and dwarfs, magic, and medieval fighting: what’s not to love? The Inheritance series had such an effect on me that I named my oldest feline-child (I am a proud cat-mom of two handsome boys) after the ancient languages word for fire, Brisingr. *cue obligatory cat photo*

2. If you could ask an author any question and be given an honest answer, what would you ask?

I would ask T.L Shreffler, author of the Cat’s Eye Chronicles, (SPOILER) why she killed off Dorian so early. As I continue to read the books in the series, I keep asking myself how Dorian, with his charm and wit, would fit in. He was such a captivating character, and I was sad to see him go so quickly.

3. If you could ask an author about the life of a character(s) after the end of a book, who would you ask about?

Ilsa Bick’s Drowning Instinct has the most heart-wrenching, nail-biting ending ever. It’s one of those books where your body aches with the unknown. Ilsa, I NEED TO KNOW. Guys, you should all read it and share in my pain.

4. Where is your favorite place to read?

If there’s anything you need to know about me, it’s that I’m an opportunist. I will take any and every chance I get to read. Floor? Cool. Airplane? Cool. Dark alley? Still cool. Sort of. I prefer cushy, safer surroundings. My dream reading “nook” would be a screened-in porch in a mild climate with plush furniture and my cats.

5. What book will always make you laugh, no matter how many times you read it?

I like to think that I have a pretty great sense of humor, but don’t quote me on that. Cress by Marissa Meyer is hands down one of the most hilarious books I have ever read. The humor can be traced directly to the exchanges between Captain Thorne and Cress. Their flirtatious banter sent me into fits of giggling. Everyone in the student union at my university probably thought I was insane, but that’s okay.

6. What is a book that you love, but other people just don’t get?

I can’t say that I love the Twilight series, however, I can say that I don’t hate it. I read the books, I own the books, and I swooned over Edward a few times. It happens. The hatred for this series is just out of control though. Come on people, there are worse things in life than sparkling vampires (like spiders).

7. What’s your most recent read?

I just finished Sworn To Raise by Terah Edun. Ciardis is a fun, fiery protagonist that leads you on a pretty exciting ride. You should totally read it. (Did I mention it’s free?)

8. If your were given the power to be able to cast a single wizarding spell from Harry Potter, what would you want it to be?

Expecto Patronum. I would love to know what sort of creature my soul manifests into. I just hope I wouldn’t be using this spell to defend against dementors.

9. What makes or breaks a book for you?

Romance. I like books with romance, not books ABOUT romance. The difference is astronomical. I’m cliché, but love triangles are great too.

10. Is there a book that you have ever physically thrown across the room or had to put down? If so, what was it?

I cannot think of one particular instance, but when I’m nearing the end of a series, I will create excuses to slow down the reading process or check my social media sites excessively in order to delay the end. I start the novel mourning process in the midst of the last book. Anyone else do the same?

11. Why do you blog about books?

I started my blog to connect with fellow book lovers and share with them the literary gold I’ve recently discovered. I also wanted an outlet on which to share all of the free or less popular Kindle books that I love. I felt like those authors deserved some recognition for their wonderful content.
